Affiliate and Commercial Disclosure — MyDay Start
MyDay Start may be supported partly through collaborative, commercial or affiliate arrangements. This page explains what that means, in plain terms.
The disclosure
MyDay Start may have commercial or affiliate relationships with companies whose products or services it recommends. Where such a relationship exists, MyDay may receive compensation when you choose one of those recommendations — usually a commission paid by the company, at no additional cost to you.
Not every recommendation is commercial. Many are not, and nothing about the way MyDay works requires one to be.
What that does not change
This is the part worth being specific about, because “we may earn a commission” is usually where disclosures stop.
- A commercial relationship does not require MyDay to show you anything. There is no obligation, quota or minimum. Having a partner does not create a reason to surface them.
- Compensation does not guarantee placement. A recommendation must first be relevant to what you are doing, suitable for you, available, and of acceptable quality. Only among options that already pass those tests does a commercial arrangement affect ordering.
- Paying more cannot beat fitting better. An option that suits your situation better cannot be displaced by one that pays more. This is enforced by how the ranking is built, not by good intentions.
- Showing nothing is a normal outcome. MyDay may intentionally show no commercial recommendation at all when nothing appropriate is available.
How you can tell
Anything shown because of a commercial arrangement is labelled where it appears. You should never have to guess whether what you are looking at carries a commercial relationship. If you cannot tell, that is a defect, and we would like to hear about it.
Where we do not do this at all
MyDay Start does not run commercial recommendations in categories touching acute financial hardship, insurance, medical treatment or products, personal crisis, or inferred health status. These categories carry a duty of care that a commercial recommendation cannot meet, and the restriction is not relaxed to increase revenue.
Current status
MyDay Start has no active affiliate or commercial partner relationships at this time. We are not naming companies as partners until they actually are. When that changes, this page changes with it.
The principle
User utility and trust take precedence over monetization. A recommendation you did not need is worth less than the trust it costs.
